Photographer Brittany Bentineis the founder of `Locked Illusions` a company that revels in turning the living into zombies and possessed. But there`s no supernatural forces at work, just a combination of props, gloomy lighting, gory make-up and spooky attire.
Known as `America`s first goth / fantasy themed photographic art for maternity, babies, kids, families, and teens` Bentine`s studio is more Addams Family than anything else, filled with all manner of unusual scenes, props and concepts which she uses in her photographs.
Kids always enjoy dressing up and role playing so being a member of the undead for the day sure seems like a lot of fun, especially in when it`s not Halloween.
But Bentine`s work has certainly stirred public outcry and caused more than its fair share of controversy since she started sharing her creations online.
You only have to visit her Facebook Page to see the kind of comments people are adding, labelling her work as "demonic", "disturbing" and "sick".
In a recent interview with our friends at VICE, she was quizzed about her reaction to those kind of views and comments of her work:
Just because something is not right for you, doesn`t mean it`s not right for somebody else. Nobody deserves to be treated badly for decisions that they make for their own families.
I get people that have said bad things about me or my art. Fortunately for me, I have a thick skin, so it`s not soul-crushing. If somebody doesn`t like my art, they have a right to their opinion, and that`s fine.
Have a look through some recent examples of her nightmarish work - do you find it wonderfully creative or sinister and offensive?
