Scary Raw Ferry Trips in Ha Noi, North Vietnam

The boatman doesn’t use oars, but uses a wire that is stretched across the river to move the boat. Whenever there are passengers, the boatman holds the wire and pulls it to operate the ferry. This means of transport has been used for decades on Hanoi’s Nhue River.

The ferry charges are only VND1,000-2,000/passenger and their vehicle. Ferry driver who has been working for 18 years at Dan Tham wharf, said that she earns VND100,000-200,000/day ($5-10).

I want to try it, if it fails to use the ferry I can swim anyway :D
