Asus Lamborghini VX5 Laptop

Asus has unveiled what may be the most expensive mass produced laptop ever. The Lamborghini VX5 is a gamer's laptop with a difference, it has a 1TB solid state drive, the biggest currently on the market.

Its slightly angled profile is reminiscent of Lamborghini own cars, like the Gallardo, and it is likely that Asus got the idea of partnering with a car manufacturer after witnessing the popularity of Acer's Ferrari laptop range.

The type of firepower the VX5 packs underneath its hood is astounding: there's a Core 2 Quad processor, 4GB DDR3 memory, a 16-inch screen capable of displaying 1920x1080 pixels (ed: your eyes will ache, should have gone for a 17-inch) and powered by a 1GB Geforce GTS130M graphic card..

The main attraction though is the 1TB Solid State Drive from Puresilicon. The drive - from the Nitro family - has a sustained read speed of 240MBps and a write speed of 215MBps; it was supposed to be available from the third quarter of 2009 but arguably Asus can be quite convincing

Other features include a Blu-ray drive and a Backlit keyboard. No details about when it will become available or what will be the launch price. The VX5 also comes with a TwinTurbo mode that allows users to change the CPU/GPU performance via a speed key, essentially an Overclock button.
