Levi Van Leluwe's amazing head art

Think you've got a head for art? Well try and match Dutch artist Levi van Leluw, who uses his own for a canvas. And why none of any model want to test this art? it's probably no one could recognise them ...not sure .

The 23-year-old creates amazing scenes by covering his head in realistic forest scenes, tree bark, long slicked-down hair and even pebbles.

Ink patterns and strips of carpet are some of the other stunning works that put most traditional self-portraits to shame.

Levi's work is designed to 'unsettle' his audience by challenging the way we think of certain materials and objects: ''A very specific unsettling reaction is invoked in the viewer when they are essentially forced to review commonly-held notions about a mere piece of grey carpet,'' he says

Levi's work has earned him a number of awards including the Photographer of the Year Award at the IPA International Photo Awards in the USA, and he has exhibited his work throughout Europe, China and the States.

He says, ''The work you see is not a portrait, but an information-rich image of colour, form, texture, and content. The image contains the history of a short creative process, with the artist shifting between the entities of subject and object.

Imagine how long it must take glueing all these pebbles...
